IndeBleu graciously contributes to the revival of the chic DC scene

An ultra posh anything-goes lounge, IndeBleu converges a twist of French and Indian enchantment for your senses. A combination of four hard to find components makes this lounge different from any other in DC: world class service, laid back crowd, good music and ultra modern design.

Within seconds, a waiter is at your service to bring you the city’s best mango martini or a unique blackberry mojito made with fresh blackberries, if you’re a fruity cocktail drinker. If you’re a beer drinker, no worries, you’ll also find a wide array of choices including Belgium’s “Delirium Tremens“. If want to have access to the lounge during the weekend, however, prepare to spend a pretty penny, as the tables are bottle service only.

The crowd and ambiance is relaxed and seems rather genuine, which is unusual in such a high-class setting. This may be due to the eclectic blend of people stemming from those looking for post work relaxation to DC’s elite socialites to pre-game sports fans, as the lounge sits a block away from the MCI center.

The music ranges from progressive/house to hip hop and international beats --courtesy of resident DJs Fort Knox Five, St. James, Seyhan and Kilo-- which will bring you to your feet, as many dance a top of the India-imported tables.

The overall design of the lounge is captivating --you won’t be able to take your eyes off the sexy red and orange color scheme, the archway to the lounge or the cut out ovals in the wall. You’ll spend hours glazing the room trying to figure out how someone conjured a design such as this one. But wait, there’s more – but only for the elite few. If you’re a “high life” baller who loves to drop Benjamins, you’ll want to be seated at the revolving table upstairs --the only one of its kind in the world-- where you’ll enjoy a customized menu while your table slowly spins to give you a view of your food being prepared.

Highlights for your palate that can be found in the lounge menu include the tuna tartare with crispy cumin papadom, the Bombay burrito with tandoor chicken and creamy pesto and the tandoori lamb lollipop with mojito glaze. Quality versus quantity is the name of the game here, as portions are rather small and we suggest to share several plates among you and your friends tapas style. Prices range from $8 to $130 (caviar), but the average dish is $11. This is strictly for the lounge so, if you decide to venture upstairs to the restaurant, expect the menu to cost significantly more.

After sipping on so many martinis, you’ll want to make your way to the women’s restroom (or maybe just peek if you know you don’t belong in there). Mirrors over the sink have been substituted with flat screens, which return your image digitalized while you wash and dry your hands.

Every night of the week is busy, so expect a full house and a friendly crowd. If you visit during the weekend, prepare to go early as long lines form quickly, as this is the one of the city’s hottest spots and there’s no cover charge. Take our advice and check this lounge out; there is no other place in the city like it. Soon enough, you’ll find yourself frequenting it over and over again with familiar faces you’ll befriend in no time. No matter how many times you visit, one thing is certain, you will never exhaust the drink menu, as there are so many choices to choose from that you’ll need the “drink menu map” set up similar to the DC Metro map with red, blue, orange and green lines to guide you!
