Hot nights in ArlingtonA sexy, artful, chic lounge in Clarendon….random! But good. Very good. Eleventh Street Lounge does the job and hits the spot for the urban suburbanite. The size is no bigger than a DC studio apartment. The walls are red displaying funky art by local artists. The chandeliers dress up the place and the retro crushed velvet sofas couches fit in perfectly. You‘ll find excellent use of space, as the bar takes up half of the actual lounge and the rest is for seating and sampling tapas or fashionably enjoying a ‘tini. Although rumor has it there is a second bar downstairs, I’ve never seen it open the several times I’ve been there. The vibe is chill and relaxing and the music is chill down tempo until about 10pm when the DJ kicks the house beats --Thursday to Saturday. No dancing goes on but a lot of head bobbing and shoulder shrugging to the beat takes place. This is a great place to spend any weeknight or start off your weekend escapades. The menu consists of tapas, and you’ll find quality versus quantity. On Thurdays, martinis and Belgian beers are half price, and they frequently do other deals too (ie $3 wine specials). This bar is great for the Northern Virginian who does not want to hike downtown but wants the trendy vibe and lounge atmosphere, or the DC urbanite looking for a new spot to claim its own.
